Pakset

The Simutrans executable is not bound to specific scenario data; but loads the objects from an object library chosen at start up. This so called pakset (or sometimes simply pak) contains landscape, building and vehicle graphics and stats, creating a world of its own. Even basic parameters; such as all costs and other variables for economy can be tuned by these sets. Therefore each set is like a different game within the Simutrans graphics/simulation engine.

Each pakset has a specific image size as the basis for its graphics; the most common sizes are 64 x 64 pixels are 128 x 128 pixels but both larger and smaller base image sizes exist.

There exists an helper application - makeobj - that makes it quite easy to make a pakset based on an existing graphics - the stats are specified in a text file (called a dat-file, since it must have the extension .dat). During the history of Simutrans, there has been created quite a few such paksets; and if you should not find one suiting your tastes; feel free to make your own! The pakÅbo isn't a pakset, but an addons mix to add in a 64px pak. Originally, Abo Set (pakABO) intended to be a 64px tile set inspired by the countries on the Baltic coast. It offered lightweight contour graphics quite different from pak64 or pak128, and could be a choice for those who thought that it was good idea to spare a pixel or two and found the styles of other paks too detailed.

This pakset is based on the pakset from Simutrans version 0.84.16 together with the Winter Set data, the first Simutrans pakset. It contains only the minimum needed for Simutrans to run and uses none of the features introduced after this early version of Simutrans. PakClassic was also named pakHajo.

The target audience for this pakset is the beginner who finds all the features of present Simutrans somewhat confusing, and those who wish to relive what Simutrans started out as..

Changes have only been made to correct typos and to guarantee that the pakset will still run under current Simutrans version.

Note that the basic settings of this pakset differs quite substantially from other paksets.

Keep that in mind if you change between this and other paksets.

pak.Brasil was started by the {AUTHOR}Portuguese sub-forum community{AUTHOR(author="Andarix",visible="1", )} from the {AUTHOR}Internacional Simutrans Forum{AUTHOR(author="Andarix",visible="1", )} to make a Brazilian pakset. This pak received some addons, but was officially stopped by the former manager Edson. IgorEliezer and Vilvoh still have the addons for the pak. Some people still send addons and discuss. The pakset is now open for new objects.

pak64Winter was created when Simutrans didn't had support for snow on winter. That's the cause the snow never went off on this pak. This pak was incorporated on original pak64 when winter snow support was added on Simutrans.

pak192 was intended to have a very similar look from <a class="wiki" href="#pak64" rel="">pak64</a> and <a class="wiki" href="#pak128" rel="">pak128</a>. The pakset was started when a 192px tilesize support were not on Simutrans. The pakset is now stopped.
