Climate zones

Climate zoneslink

Simutrans version 0.99.xx (Makeobjekt 39) or newer

In version 0.99.00 different climate zones were introduced.

Objects that can be restricted to climate zones:
  • Citybuildings (building - type res, ind, com)
  • Townhalls (building - type tow)
  • Industries (factory)
  • Attractions (building - type cur)
  • Monuments (building - type mon)
  • Trees (tree)
  • ground objects (ground_obj)

Following climates are available

value
meaning
desert
  desert
tropic
  tropical
mediterran
  mediterran
temperate
  temperate
tundra
  tundra
rocky
  rocky
arctic
  arctic - these are the areas that are always snow covered, even in summer

The parameter is climates=. You can define multiple climates for an object, just separate them with a colon. If you omit this parameter, the building will appear in all/any climates.

e.g.the entry
climates=mediterran,tropic,temperate

means this object will be built in mediterran tropic and/or temperate climate.

Note
If there is no object defined for a certain climate then this climate zone will be empty in game.

If there is no townhall defined for a certain climate no cities will be founded in this climate zone in game, But cities from adjacent climate zones may grow into that zone - except if there is no building available at all that can be built in this climate zone.

Building on the shoreslink

Simutrans-version 0.99.02.1 or higher

with this entry;
climates=water
Location=Land

the object will be built only on the shore line. AFAIK This only works for factories (obj=factory), and for attractions (obj=building; type=cur). These objects can not reach into the water (like harbours).
